Cost-effective automated machine feeding

"Lean and cost-efficient" were the key themes for this automated machine feeder. With our Mikado Find and a robot, parts are gripped directly from the conveyor belt and fed for processing. The overall design is characterized by an excellent price-performance ratio, among other things.

Automated machine loading does not always have to be large, complex and expensive. If you focus on the actual core tasks and optimize the setup accordingly, the result is a reliable overall solution at an extremely attractive overall price.

In this application, various rotationally symmetrical parts need to be processed. Our integrator has chosen a conveyor belt structure in combination with a 6-axis robot, a clever gripper concept and our lean Mikado Find. In combination with a high-performance 3D camera from the N series, our software reliably finds the parts on the conveyor belt, including shiny parts. The actual position of the parts is communicated to the robot so that it can pick them up accurately. Mikado Find also covers the large number of different parts in this application. Thanks to our focus on simple use, the end customer is able to create new parts themselves and operate the machine as a whole.

Our products from the MIKADO series (solutions for camera-guided robotics) are all based on our 3D cameras. The use of a 3D camera with our Mikado Find had several advantages in this application:

  • simple machine setup, no complex alignment of the camera to the conveyor belt
  • parts found directly in robot coordinates without conversions, thanks to integrated hand-eye calibration
  • parts lying at an angle or overlapping parts also work
